Spring 2012

Spring is here and our boats are hitting the water again. Since last season we have grown from three charter boats to six. Our sailing school fleet has doubled as well adding another Bristol 20 for the 101 classes, a Pearson 22, and a Hunter 41 for the advanced classed. We purchased the 2005 Hunter 41 in Puerto Rico and sailed her almost 2000 miles up to RI in March. She is being refurbished and will be in service by Memorial Day.

We have added the Diesel, Boat Systems, and Advanced Docking courses as well as ASA 106 this season. This is part or our emerging division called "The Cruising School" which will be teaching Coastal Cruising skills to Couples. Website will be up sometime this summer and we'll be in full swing with that by next spring.

We will also be adding a Caribbean base in winter of 2013. Then we will be offering coastal, intracoastal, and offshore passage experiences, plus instruction and charter opportunities during the winter down there. Not sure where yet, but we are taking a good look at the Spanish Virgin Islands off Puerto Rico.

We will be celebrating our third anniversary this July as a company. Phenomenal growth due to our hardworking instructors, and Rhode Island's wonderful Narragansett Bay.

Boats are in the water!

Our two Hunter 36's and our Pearson 30 have all been launched for the 2011 season. By May 1 they will have the rest of the Spring Commissioning process completed and be ready for service. Our Pearson 30 "Joie de Vivre" will be having her BRAND NEW sails installed made by Thurton Sails. Our SailTime boat "Puffin" has had the companionway hatch boards removed And now has opening doors instead. That makes it SO much easier to get in and out of the cabin!

Welcome to Narragansett Sailing's Blog

Narragansett Sailing was founded to provide multiple options for a sailor to learn and grow. Many folks are attracted to sailing, but for many, buying a boat right off does not make sense. Before that kind of investment should be made some knowledge and experience can be gained so intelligent choices can be made.
